As this page suggests we are, retired, dedicated volunteers serving the Virginia Beach Retired Employees Association. Strong work ethics saw us through our careers with the city and we continue our dedication as a member of the VBREA.
VBREA Beginnings Our association was started in 2006 at the request of then City Manager, Mr. James K. Spore, as a city partnership under the guidance of the city's Administrative Leadership Team.
A mailbox located within the city has been dedicated exclusively for VBREA usage, a savings/banking account was established, monthly meetings were established and a unique contribution number was assigned to the VBREA for the United Way annual contributions.
The existence of this association is intended to keep retired members informed of current city business and to help retirees be better aware of current volunteer opportunities within the city.
Mission Statement The mission of the association is to enhance the quality of life for its members. The association organizes activities of special interest to retirees, establishes and maintains a liaison with appropriate city staff to assure retiree interests are being recognized, and provides a channel of communication through which interest and concerns can be represented to the city administration.
