A Member is Defined as:
​Any retired employee of the City of Virginia Beach, or any person who worked as a state employee under the Virginia Retirement System and whose service as such was to the citizens of the City of Virginia Beach is eligible to become a voting member of the Association by paying the designated dues.

Just some of the ​advantages to being a member include the following:

-  Monthly membership meetings
-  Some events hosted by the VBREA are partially-paid for   
​   members
-  Annual picnic catered by the VBREA
-  Kept apprised of retiree applicable city and legislative
   news
-  Opportunities to volunteer in city-wide activities
-  Through your membership, you remain connected to
​    the VBREA no matter where you might move in the world

What are the membership dues used for?  Some expenses are:

• Banking fees for our checking and savings accounts (read our Treasurer's Report in our Board Minutes on the "Stay Connected" Page.

 

• Supports postage for news blasts and membership registration

 

• Member discounts for party events

 

• Member discounts for our Annual Picnic

Please consider joining us to continue the friendships of your employment years while enjoying the freedoms and the pleasures retirement life can offer. 

This nominal amount helps to fund items such as postage, community support (for example purchasing an electronic tracking device for Project Lifesaver)  and has also been used to pay for members attendance at our annual picnic!
